PROCOR’s intensified campaign against Loose Firearm resulted in the confiscation and voluntarily surrender of 36 firearms, 1 box and 261 ammunitions to the police and the arrest of one gun ban violator since April 16 to 22, 2018.

In the 13 police operations, the Abra gains the highest number with 14 firearms confiscated with one arrest, followed by Baguio with 9, Apayao-5, Benguet-3, Ifugao and Kalinga with 2 firearms each and the least Mt Province with only one confiscated firearm.



Highlighting some of the week’s accomplishment was the arrest of Benson Damian Ballia, 26, a resident of Brgy. Tabiog, Bucay, Abra for violation of Commission on Elections gun ban, and RA 10591 or known as Illegal Possession of Firearms He was arrested in a checkpoint along Brgy. Lusuac, Peñarrubia, Abra in the afternoon of April 22, 2018. One (1) Colt Caliber .45 pistol with magazine loaded with seven (7) live ammunition was confiscated from his possession and control.

Furthermore, in the implementation of search warrant, Amado Diaz Asuncion of Barangay Palitud, Paracelis, Mt Province was arrested in his residence in the morning of April 20, 2018 after the confiscation of two (2) long metal magazines; one (1) magazine for Cal 45; 54 live ammos for Cal 5.56; 34 live ammo for Cal. 45; seven (7) live ammo for Cal 38; one (1) live ammo for Cal 9mm and one (1) cartridge case for Cal 45.

Likewise, Abraham Dela Cruz a.k.a “Abe” was arrested at his residence at Sitio Mangolon Brgy Daoidao, San Juan, Abra in the morning of the same day after the confiscation of one 12 gauge shotgun ARMSCOR with defaced serial number, one Cal.38 ARMSCOR, one homemade cal. 22 MAGNUM without serial number, 29 assorted rounds of ammunition, and one sling bag.

PROCOR leadership urged the public to comply with poll-related prohibitions for the election period to avoid any violations that led to their arrest.
