PROCOR CAMP BADO DANGWA: Three persons were arrested, while firearms and ammunition were confiscated over the week in the province of Abra as the Police Regional Office Cordillera continues its fight against loose firearms that commonly fall into the hands of private armed groups.

By virtue of a search warrant issued by Judge Raphiel F. Alzate, Presiding Judge of RTC Branches 1 and 58 of Bangued and Bucay, respectively, all of Abra, two suspects were arrested in their respective residences.

Suspects were identified as Cesar Frio Blanes, 48, butcher and a resident of Sitio Turod, Calaba, Bangued, Abra who was arrested in the afternoon of November 9, 2017 and Manuel Malaggay Labaoan, 40, married, driver and a resident of Brgy. Cabaroan, Tayum, Abra who was likewise nabbed in the morning of November 8, 2017.

Seized from the residence of Blanes are one Colt MKIV Cal. 45 pistol with Serial No. 835621, 12 live ammunition for Cal. 45, and two magazines while in the household of Labaoan were one (1) Cal. 45 Colt MK IV with serial number 258910; one (1) magazine assembly; 8 live ammunition of same calibre and one (1) holster.

In another operation, one Angelo Dacanay Alfiler a.ka Gelo, 47, was arrested in his residence at Brgy. Velasco, Tayum, Abra in the morning of November 6, 2017 after a Cal. 22 armscor rifle without serial number and 4 pieces ammunition for the same caliber were seized thereat. The operation was made possible after successful surveillance operations.

Arrested suspects together with the confiscated items are now under the custody of the concerned operating units while Violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) were filed against them.

Were it not for the timely and judicious disposition in the conduct of Police Operations the aforementioned firearms could have been gone to the wrong hands.

PROCOR is also focusing on the campaign against loose firearms and will do its best to arrest more violators to curb gun-related violence in the streets including those involving weapons. (PROCOR RPIO)
